The award was received by the Gen. Secretary of WTCA, Mr. Mirbaz Khan, during a ceremony held at the Chief Secretary House Gilgit. The ceremony was attended by dozens of guests, including officials of the GB Tourism Department and journalists. Mr. Dhaga also awarded certificates to journalists for covering and promoting the festival.

WTCA organized the concluding ceremony of the three days long Silk Route Festival 2013 held in the last week of October. The event was attended by dozens of diplomats and high officials, including Minister for GB&KA Barjees Tahir.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dhaga said GB has been hit by a wave of terrorism in the last two years, but the Silk Route Festival played greater role in recreating the image of GB. He said GB is a safe and secure place for tourists.
