URBAN FORESTRY CAMPAIGN INAUGURATED IN CHITRAL BY ADC

Chitral(PR): Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral, Mr. Minhas Uddin inaugurated the Urban Forestry campaign 2017 by planting a pine tree at DC Osama Shaheed Park Chitral Today. The event organized by R&D Directorate of KP Forest Department.

The Officer of Line Departments, NGOs and people from Civil Societies were also participated.

Talking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral said urban forestry is the only solution of the environmental pollution  “The tree plantation plays an important role for eliminating environmental pollution, therefore, people should plant maximum trees during the campaign,” he added. He said that trees will not only enhance natural beauty of the Chitral Town but also provide a clean environment to the people of the town. He further said that under urban forestry more plants need to be planted in DC Osama Shaheed Park Chitral beside other government buildings.

Mr. Zahid Ahmad Research Officer- R&D Directorate   said that KP Forest Department under R&D Directorate has initiated urban forestry promotion campaigns in the province and under this campaign plantation will be carried out in public places in the cities and towns and R&D Directorate will facilitate people in provision of free plants and technical inputs.

 

Mr. Ajaz Ahmad NTFP KP Forest department Chitral said Chitral Town is an ideal location for the promotion of urban forestry, the rapid urbanization in chitral town causing many environmental issues and urban forestry is the need of the day, we can promote urban forestry for greenery as well has to improve the health of urban environment. Urban forestry needs collective approach where we need the support of all stakeholders. He further added.

While talking on tree planting, Mr. Khaliq ul Zaman, District Shahi Khatib Chitral said the existence of many hadiths that encourage the greening and afforesting of the environment clearly reflects the Holy Prophet’s concern about the Nature conservation

“If a Muslim plants a tree or grow grains and a bird, a person or an animal eats from it will be counted as a charity for him.” He further narrated a Hadiths e mubarika.

At the end the participants planted plants in the vicinity of DC Osama Shaheed Park Chitral.
