IRC had the pleasure of having aboard 25 students from Government Degree College Ali Abad Hunza. A batch of arts and science students accompanied by their assistant professors Mr Sherbaz and Mr Aslam Nadeem visited the IRC office Lahore. During their visit, they had the opportunity to visit the office, the studio and watch some provocative theatre rehearsals.
Mr. Ghazi Karim who is a community filmmaker for IRC was the facilitator for this trip. Upon their visit students were given a round of the office and were introduced to the office staff. This was followed by a screening of two films made by IRC; theatre on “Political Education” and “Mera Pakistan.” Mr. Nisar Ahmed; Media Manager of IRC conducted a question and answer session. During this session, importance of print, electronic and social media was discussed.
This was the first time that the students from Hunza traveled outside their town. It was a great learning experience for them. This is a great opportunity for the people of Hunza to share their stories and their culture with the rest of the world. Students were also introduced to the web based tv; Maati.tv. This is a great way for the students to share their stories with a larger audience through the channel Maati.tv. Such trips are extremely helpful for students as they get the chance to view practical work. Students were very happy to have visited the IRC premises. They take back with them many wonderful stories to share with the people of Hunza. We hope to have students from Hunza back for another visit in the near future.
