Rubina hailing from Chitral achieves the Nelson Mandela Award for Human Rights

(Chitral) Rubina Aziz hailing from Mastuj, Upper Chitral is awarded with the first Nelson Mandela Human Rights Award. This special award is initiated by the Centre for Human Rights Education to encourage those young leaders from the societies all over Pakistan who struggle for the oppressed parts of the society.

Rubina got the award in Multan during a democracy festival. Social and human right activists were present in large numbers at the event.

Rubina is a human rights activist and works with the Qashqar Area Development Program (QADP). She has been raising voices for the human rights violations in the remote areas of Chitral at different forums which enabled her to be a candidate for this award. Rubina was very happy to be crowned by this special award and referred the award as a catalyst in her struggle. She hopes that other young women from Chitral and other parts of the countary will get motivation from this award and come forward for the rights of the ignored remote areas of the country.
