Reward for promoting tourism: Samina Baig, Mirza Ali get PKR 800K from GB Tourism Department

Gilgit: Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah presented awards of Rs. 5,00,000 and Rs. 3,00,000 to mountaineer siblings Ms. Samina Baig and Mr. Mirza Ali respectively for their contribution to the promotion of tourism in the region and for portraying the positive side of Gilgit-Baltistan at the international level.

The cheques were presented to Ms. Baid and Mr. Ali on behalf of the Tourism Department of Gilgit-Baltistan at Serena Hotel Gilgit.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ms. Baig became the first Pakistani women to climb Mount Everest on May 19, 2013. She and her brother Ali also became the first Pakistanis to summit 7 highest mountains on the 7 continents of the world under the Adventure Diplomacy Expedition.

Mr. Shah also presented cheques to some young men and women of Gilgit-Baltistan under the Chief Minister’s Self Employment Loan Facility.
