The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated Mr. Izhar Hunzai to contest election in GBLA-6 (Hunza) in the upcoming elections of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA).
Having led the Aga Khan Rural Supported Programme in GB for several years, Mr. Izhar is a a household name in the development sector of the region. He was born in Haiderabad, Hunza.
The decision of PTI to award its ticket to Mr. Izhar came after much deliberations and delays. Other aspirants of the same ticket included Mr. Aziz Ahmed and young debuting politician Mr. Najeeb Ullah from Gojal Valley.
Both PTI and its candidates are making a debut on the political arena of Hunza and several other parts of GB.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the returning officer, as appointed by the election commission of GB, has been requested by the party to allot the PTI party symbol of bat to Mr. Izhar.
Mr. Aziz and Najeeb took to social media to support Mr. Izhar and welcomed the party’s decision to nominate Izhar Hunzai as its candidate to run from GBLA-6.
