GILGIT: Minister for Tourism, Sports, and Culture for GB Mr. Fida Khan has said  that the GB government is working to formulate a tourism policy for the promotion of tourism policy in the region. The minister made the revelation on Friday.

“One million tourists visited GB in 2016, and we aim to attract at least 1.2 million tourists to the area in 2017,” Mr. Khan said. “The tourism policy would provide a roadmap and a set of guidelines to develop, promote, and boost the tourism industry in the long run.”

He further said that tourist information centers would be set up in Gilgit and Skardu airports, and in all the districts of GB. Calendar of events would be implemented and steps will be taken for development of sports and culture, he added. These and similar developments would help facilitate tourists visiting the area, create good experiences for them, and boost the tourism industry of GB.

He also claimed that the government has upgraded 33 polo grounds across GB.
