GHIZER: Gilgit-Baltistan government has allocated PKR 1 billion to renovate the government-owned rest houses in the region, revealed Tourism Minister Fida Khan on Tuesday.

The project is part of the broader plan to promote tourism in GB, Mr. Fida said.

Talking to media at Gahkuch in Ghizer today, he said GB government has planned to renovate existing rest houses to overcome shortage of accommodation for the tourists.

He further said that the government has planned to hold seminars and other programs to attract international and domestic tourists to GB.

We will also train interested youth as tourist guides, so tourists would be facilitated in the area and income opportunities could be created, the minister said.
