GILGIT: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved a project for the construction of expressway between Gilgit and Naltar, revealed Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman on Sunday.
The chief minister revealed this while talking to a delegation in Gilgit. He said the project is part of a broader plan to boost the tourism sector of GB.
“Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved Gilgit- Naltar Expressway road project,” he said. “The project will be completed at a cost of 3.5 billion rupees in three years.”
Naltar valley is a popular tourist resort near Nomal and Gilgit. The valley, which is also a famed ski resort, attracts thousands of tourists every year. Naltar is 40 kilometers from Gilgit and can be reached by jeeps.
Despite its huge potential for attracting tourists, the existing road to Naltar is very dangerous and dilapidated.
