Nazir Ahmed Bulbul (Born Nov. 15, 1966, to Mr. Muhammed Zia in village Gulmit, Gojal) is a famous artist, seasoned academician and social worker from Gilgit-Baltistan. He was born to a family that was into agriculture and farming.
He received his early education from the F.G. Boys Primary School, Gulmit, and started poetry in Wakhi language at a very young age. While he was in sixth grade at school,he developed interest in poetry and art.
Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bulbul also attended F.G. Boys High School, Gulmit, where he earned his matriculation. For higher studies, he went to Karachi and completed his graduation from Karachi Urdu College. By that time, he had already marked his name as one of the pinnacle poets of Wakhi language.
In 1992, he went with “Globle Activity Group” to Japan’s Nehon University under students exchange program for a year. Upon his return from Japan, he published a book about his time and experience in Japan. His book is entitled “Safar Nama-e-japan.”
After completion of his graduation in 1993, he returned to his native village Gulmit and joined Nasir Khisro Model Academy, Ghulkin, as a teacher. In August 1994 he was appointed Principal of Al-Amyn Model School, Gulmit.
In 1997, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bulbul earned a degree of M.A. Political Science from Karachi University. In 2001, he won a scholarship for Master in Education (M.Ed.) from AKU (Aga Khan University), Karachi. In 2003 he had completed his M.Ed.
His poetries are mostly naturalistic. Mr. Nazir’s poetries brought him fame in the society. He had already bagged several best artist and poetry awards from different institution, including the Karakoram Area Development Organization (KADO). Some people call him the poet of Gojal Valley. He is also a veteran in other fields of arts, including singing, painting, drama writing and story writing.
He is also very well known for his volunteerism and social works in the community. He has made several contributions to the Wakhi Tajik and Culture Association (WTCA). His social profile includes scouting and volunteer teachings. He is currently serving as President of the Ismaili Local Council for Gulmit and Principal of Al Amyn Model School, Gulmit. Previously he has led the Ismaili Tariqa and Religious Education Board (ITREB) Gulmit.
He has remained affiliated and served Al-Amyn Model School, Gulmit for almost 18 years. He is popular as one of the best and ideal teachers in Hunza. He had also worked as a teacher trainer in many institutions, including Mountain Institute of Education Development. While he was affiliated with MIED, he has also served as teacher trained in Mansehra and Chakwal after the devastating earthquake of 2005.
“I am very happy with this teaching experience because teaching is my hobby as well as my profession,” he has said.
