Gilgit: The Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is expected to visit Gilgit-Baltistan on Dec. 6, sources said.
Reports said that Chief Secretary of GB, Younas Dhaga, has also said that Mr. Sharif is expected to visit GB on Dec. 6. He also said that preparations have been finalized for the visit.
The PM is expected to visit the Diamer Bhasha Dam’s construction site, where he would be briefed about progress on the dam’s construction. The Prime Minister will also hold meeting with Pakistan Muslim League (N) office bearers and representatives in Gilgit.
Mr. Sharif is expected to make announcement of some mega projects for GB. He will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister of GB Syed Mehdi Shah and Speaker GB Legislative Assembly Mr. Wazir Baig. The PM is also expected to address GBLA.
Sources said the PM will also visit Hunza, where he would announce a special package for rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the Attabad Landslide disaster.
Mr. Dhaga said all arrangements have been finalized and security is on high alert for the high-profile visit. It is pertinent to mention here that it would be Mr. Sharif’s maiden visit to GB after being elected as PM of Pakistan. Government employees who were on leave have also been called back, the Chief Secretary said.
