Three people have been wounded in a clash that erupted between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel and local people in Naltar Valley on Friday.
The clash started after local people entered argument with the PAF employees who were working on the construction of chair lift in the scenic valley situated 43 kilometers from Gilgit city. Reports suggest that controversy over the property over which the chair lift was being installed led to the brawl between the two parties.
All three people injured in the fight reportedly belong to the PAF. They were identified as Group Captain Shahid Nadeem and Warrant Officers Rafaqat and Mohd. Abbas. The injured, said to be out of danger, were rushed to the Military Hospital (MH) in Gilgit city. Meanwhile, the district administration has deployed law enforcement squads at the clash scene.
It is pertinent to mention here that Naltar, a forested valley, attracts thousands of tourists every year and is popular for its superb mountains and wildlife besides being a hot spot for ski lovers. PAF has established its base camp in Naltar and ski championships are often organized under PAF supervision in the valley.
