Members of the Gilgit Baltistan Council representing the province have set a condition for their share in the council’s next meeting to be chaired by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Gilgit-Baltistan Council was supposed to meet up on Tuesday, but failed to do so. The meeting has been planned five times in the earlier period of three months.
Council members from Gilgit-Baltistan have also put forward conditions prior to Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed and Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs Birjis Tahir. The members threatened to refuse and boycott future meetings if their demands are not met. The majority feel there is an inconsistency between the revenue generated from the province and what is spent on it for development.
