Mr. Zamarut Khan, 66, hails from Misgar Valley (Gojal, Hunza). In 1992, he opened up a small, eggs selling business in the Pakistan-China border town of Sost, which is about 20 kilometers away from Misgar Valley.
From day one, Mr. Zamarut has preferred to commute on foot. During the past 23 years, he has not missed a single day walking between his hometown and Sost to run his small business. And there is no day-off in his business. The total distance walked by Mr. Zamarut during the last 23 years stands at 331,200 kilometers.
Nothing can break Mr. Zamarut’s routine… not even storms, flooding, illness and the weather. He has only one thing to do in life: Get up early in the morning, walk 20 kilometers to reach Sost, do his business throughout the day, and walk 20 kilometers back home in the evening.
