Landslides suspend traffic on KKH

Traffic on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) between Gilgit and Rawalpindi has been suspended as a result of landslides at multiple locations. The landslides were caused by torrential rains over the last 48 hours.

According to the Frontier Works Organization, heavy landslides have blocked the road at Lal Pari near Gilgit, Kiyal , Dasu and Barsin in Pattan.

Meanwhile, two cars have come under a landslide near Dasu, Kohistan. The cars have been severely damaged; however, the passengers are reported to have received minor injuries.

Workers of FWO have started removing slides debris from road side to restore the traffic.
