Gilgit Baltistan Youth Council organized a program in Lahore to celebrate the Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan. A large number of youth, professionals, social workers and activists participated in the gathering.
The venue was provided by Pakistan People’s Party Secretariat and some political leaders from PPPP participated in the session. The political leaders highlighted the sacrifice of PPP and the effort the party made for the basic rights of Gilgit-Baltistan people.
Member GBYC Tehseen Ali Rana highlighted the issues of Gilgit Baltistan students in Lahore and in other cities and described the objective and vision of Gilgit Baltistan Youth Council.
GBYC members emphasised the youth to get united and overcome the extremism and sectarian violence, which erupts in the region from time to time.
GB students presented different items from their respective districts and showed a pluralistic and diversified culture of Gilgit Baltistan. ‘Shomoborak Bod’ by Gojal students and national songs by Baltistan students added more flavour to the program. Songs, traditional dances and flute music by Niaz and his group were appreciated and enjoyed by the audience .
Didar Ali Hunzai thanked the participants and audience and announced that GBYC will organize a larger program in spring and artisans from Gilgit Baltistan will be specially invited to participate in it. He congratulated GBYC team for the first successful program.
