The Karakoram Highway will remain closed to all kinds of vehicular traffic during daytime from June 13 to 18 on account of construction work on Dasu Hydropower Project in Kohistan, according to an NHA official.
A statement issued in Bisham here on Friday by the deputy director maintenance National Highway Authority (NHA), said the foreign and Pakistani tourists and local commuters should avoid travel on the road during day for five days. However, he said the road would remain open at night from 8pm to 4am.
The statement offered apology over the inconvenience caused to passengers owing to closure of the artery. POWER OUTAGES: Electricity supply in Bisham city remained suspended for third consecutive day on Friday, causing problems for consumers.
According to SDO Mohammad Ali, power supply was suspended due to a technical fault in the main 133KV grid station. He said scorching heat was hampering the repair work.
On the other hand, resident of Bisham city, Shang, Batkot, Maira, Sadeen and Kund threatened to hold demonstrations on Sunday if the power supply was not restored immediately.
They said they had been facing severe problems due to power outage in Ramazan. The prolonged power breakdown has caused water shortage, and people have to bring water from distant areas.
“Journalists also suffered due to prolonged suspension of power in the Bisham city as they could not file stories for their respective newspapers and TV channels,” said Irfanullah, a journalist.
He said the Pesco was already carrying out 18 to 20 hours of loadshedding in the region.
