Gilgit (October 23) “We have supported the teachers in all issues, it is now time for them to repay in terms of voting for PPP in the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan,” says Mr. Syed Mehdi Shah, chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan. The chief minister addressed a session in Gilgit city organized by the teachers association titled as “Salam Teachers,” to pay tribute to the teachers.
The chief minister added that our government in Gilgit-Baltistan is at the end of the five years period and has left no hurdles for the upcoming government. It is now time for the teachers to decide to vote in favor of PPP for all the hard work and development in these five years. Mr. Shah said that different sources tried to create hurdles on the way to promote the teachers but the PPP government stood by the teachers in all situations and transferred the rights to them. The PPP government will wait for the teachers to play their part in the elections, said Mr. Shah.
Addressing the session, Mr. Ali Madad Sher, minister for education paid tribute to the teachers overall Pakistan and especially for the teachers of Gilgit-Baltistan on the day of “Salam Teachers.” The minister for education said that during the 67 years no government has considered the issues of teachers in Gilgit-Baltistan. PPP is the only party that has raised and resolved the issues of teachers, lecturers, and professors in Gilgit-Baltistan ignoring the unlimited resources in the province. The government has always ranked education on its priority list. Mr. Sher said that 95 percent of the issues have been resolved and the remaining is under process till December.
The director for academics Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Majeed Karim Khan said that teachers should be role models for a society. If teachers understand their role than the society will get prosperous and we should work as a team which will led us to a developed society said the director academics while addressing the session.
Mr. Haji Shahid Hussain, President of the teachers association Gilgit thanked the guests for the participation and encouragement. Lastly best performing schools, teachers, and students were awarded with prizes.
