Importers, exporters protest at Pak-China Sost Port

By Irfan Munna

Sost Gojal, 31, Oct:  Importers and exporters of Gilgit-Baltistan have started demonstration at Pak-China Sost Port, demanding relaxation in carrying the goods through passenger vans and buses to China.

The Chinese custom is not allowing goods more than 160 KG with a single passenger, said one exporter. The Chinese custom authority has made a new rule to carry goods in baggage through trucks and containers to china, he added.

Traders usually carry goods through passenger vans and busses to save their taxes at the Chinese custom and can also carry goods in minor quantities to china. Talks are continuing between the Chinese Custom Authority and the Pakistan customs.
