A Himalayan Lynx was found dead in the Pamir region of Shimshal, a village in Gojal that shares border with China in the far flung northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan. Some residents from Shimshal were on their way to Pamir region when they spot the animal’s dead body, sources said.
Locals say the Himalayan Lynx may have died from hunger or injury. It is pertinent to mention here that there is not a single rehabilitation center in Gojal Valley to treat ailing and injured wildlife.
In Pakistan, Himalayan Lynx are mostly found in Chitral and some parts Gilgit-Baltistan. Also known as Eurasian Lynx, this specie is found across most of Central Asia, Russia, China, and Eastern Europe.
