IMTIAZ TAJ — PUBLISHED IN DAWN

GILGIT: At least three people were injured on Friday when a Pakistan Army helicopter crash-landed on a school in Naltar Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. According to Director General (DG) Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa, six Pakistanis and 11 foreigners were on board the MI-17 helicopter. All passengers survived the crash, the DG added.

rime Minister Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to visit Gilgit today for the inauguration of two projects and the army helicopter was monitoring the security situation in the area prior to his visit, DawnNews reported.

No loss of life was reported as the school was closed due to a public holiday declared for the premier’s visit.
