Newly elected Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman took oath of his office at a ceremony in Gilgit on Friday evening.
Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Ch. Barjees Tahir administered the oath.
Earlier, he was elected as unopposed new Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, in a telephonic conversation with the new Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has felicitated him on his election to the slot. He said that victory of PML(N) in Gilgit-Baltistan is reflective of the confidence of people of the area in the policies of the party.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the Chief Minister would do his best to serve people of GB.
Nawaz Sharif said he wanted to see GB turning into one of the highly developed region. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would bring about economic revolution in the area, create employment opportunities and help raise standard of living of people of GB.
The Prime Minister said development of Gilgit-Baltistan is his vision and they would make every effort to realize this dream.
Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman thanked Mian Nawaz Sharif for nominating him for the office of Chief Minister and said he would strive hard to serve people of the area as per vision and commitment of the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also felicitated Haji Fida Muhammad Nashad and Jaffarullah Khan on their unopposed election as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.
