Gilgit thirsts for clean drinking water

Having Big City status people of Gilgit city are thirsting for clean water in the city. The pipe lines are damaged at several places in the city due to which the drinking water becoming polluted and people are having various diseases.

WASA having hundreds of employees but their performance is going poor in the city. The people in the city have demanded and requested from the chief secretary to take measures against this serious issue.

According to estimate, water related diseases cost Pakistan economy about Rs 112 bn per year in terms of health cost and lost earnings, which could be avoided.
