The Aga Khan Health Services Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan chapter, celebrated World Mental Health Day in collaboration with the Aga Khan Local Health Board Danyore and D.J High School Danyore, Tuesday. The AKHS,P has initiated mass campaigning to provide awareness to the public about mental health.
A session was arranged at the hall of D.J High School Danyore where men and women participated in large number. A full house observed especially with the young age, which was appreciated by the administration of the AKHS,P. The youth are our prime focus, said a member of the health services.
Doctors and psychological experts facilitated the session by providing awareness about mental health. The experts emphasized on stress management, alternatives to cop with stress, and factors of stress with respect to Gilgit- Baltistan. The experts demonstrated practical examples of reacting to stress. Dr. Adil, an MBBS and psychiatrist, addressed the session on suicide. He shared the main factors that stimulate suicidal thinkings and pointed proactive approaches to overcome suicides.
The AKHS,P aims to provide mass awareness in Gilgit-Baltistan where the ratio of stress management and suicide rate is higher, added an official.
