Gilgit,September 2014: The launching ceremony of Youth Social Entrepreneurship Project took place at the premises of Human and Enterprise Development Institute (HEDI), which was attended by over 100 young male and female students of HEDI and other institutions in Gilgit. A good number of professionals and media representatives were also present at the event.
The Chairman HEDI, Mr. Sultan Ahmed, gave a brief about the project entitled Youth Social Entrepreneurship, a joint venture support of YES Network Pakistan and HEDI with the financial support of USAID. He explained the idea of engaging the youth in various innovative social enterprises while bringing innovative solutions to emerging social issues. He urged the youth to be part of the project and ring their innovative ideas to fruition. He said that through this project, HEDI will organize sessions for around 300 youngsters and will orient them to the concept of social enterprise with focus on youth. He said that the participants will also be encouraged to come with different social enterprises and the best ones will be supported. He said that potential entrepreneurs will be linked to resource organizations nationally and internationally.
Before his specch Ms. Fakhra gave welcome speech and Ms. Musarrat Shaheen gave a brief about HEDI, a Gilgit based institutions established in 2012.
The participants of this event termed it a very interesting and potential project and showed their commitment to be part of the project and bring pragmatic solutions to the merging social issues while establishing innovative and sustainable projects in the future.
HEDI is a timely call in response to the emerging needs of individuals, organizations and enterprises in terms of quality services in youth engagement, corporate marketing, skill enhancement, human, institutional and enterprise development.

The customized campus-based training programs of HEDI in languages, ICT, research and other areas have so far benefited over 500 learners whereas 130 students are benefiting from 14 degree programs of COMSATS University Virtual Campus Islamabad for which HEDI is the authorized Study Center in Gilgit Baltistan. Besides that, HEDI has reached around 2000 individuals in different parts of Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral specially youth and they have availed our tailor made training courses sponsored by various development organizations.
HEDI has also focused on enterprise development and recently has entered the arena of Social Entrepreneurship in collaboration of YES Network Pakistan and has four Master Trainers for this particular area.
