The short-term government in Gilgit-Baltistan has denied causing delays in providing funds to the election commission.
The explanation came a day after G-B Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mr. Tahir Ali Shah criticized concerning a lack of funds at the commission’s disposal which could result in additional delays in the legislative assembly elections planned for May.
The Chief Election Commissioner also supposedly said the commission had demanded Rs200 million for election expenditures however, just received Rs13 million.
According to Express Tribune report , a statement issued on Tuesday by the Gilgit-Baltistan information division, Rs73.5 million was released to the chief election commissioner’s office. “The funds were released to pay the Printing Corporation of Pakistan and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for printing electoral lists.”
