The “First Satranga Youth Peace Festival” will be held tomorrow Sep. 30 from 4 pm to 9 pm at the Al Hamra Hall, Mall road, Lahore, according to the program organizers.

A large number of young men and women from across Pakistan are expected to participate in the festival, which is aimed to promote peace, pluralism, respect for diversity and preservation of culture.

The festival is being organized by the Satranga Cultural Development Organization (SCDO) in collaboration with Mountain Youth Resource and Social Welfare Organization (MYRO), the government of Punjab, South Asia Partnership and other organizations. Moreover, Mountain TV is the media partner for the festival besides Maati TV.

A large number of young people from Gilgit-Baltistan are also gearing up to attend the festival to contribute to the promotion of peace and culture, said Nisar Ahmed, CEO of MYRO.

“The youth of Gilgit-Baltistan will be provided the opportunity to represent their culture in the festival,” said Nisar.

Jawad Ahmed will rock the festival with his songs alongside The Shah’s Band and Pappu Sain Dhol. A number of other rocking Sufi medleys will also be part of the festival, said the organizers.

Satranga Cultural Development Organization and MYRO use theatre, media and visual art as advocacy and intervention tools.

Under the planned festival, a variety of programs will be held, including panel discussions for peace, interactive theatre, film and documentary screening, cultural dances, music concert, qawali and dhol with international beat.
