Thousands of people in Skardu took to the roads to protest against what they called was the government’s duplicity on the matter of formation of new districts. The demonstrators warned that if the government of Gilgit-Baltistan does not immediately deliver upon its pledge to form new district, they’ll have to face dire consequences.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government of GB had announced that it would declare Shigar and Kharmang as new districts; however, the pledge has not materialized yet. The protesters alleged that the government tried to make fool of the people by not fulfilling its promise.
They also warned that the government should not take the tolerance of the peace-loving people as weakness, saying they would kickoff a mass movement throughout Baltistan against the government attitude.
