Earthquake of 4.7 magnitude jolts Gilgit

GILGIT  – An earthquake of 4.7 magnitudes shook Gilgit and its adjoining areas at 3 AM on Thursday.

People panicked in the wee hours came out of their homes and started reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Meanwhile, no casualties and any damage to property were reported.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre said the epicenter of the earthquake was located 35 kilometres southwest of Skardu and was 15 kilometres deep.
