The construction of cardiology center in Gilgit has been knocked by sectarian dispute, reports said Sunday. Work on the project has been stalled due to a sectarian dispute over its proposed site since the last ten years.
Meanwhile, Health Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Gulbar Khan, has asked for help from political leaders to immediately kickoff work on GB’s first cardiology center. Mr. Khan alleged that both Shias and Sunnis wanted the center to be established in their areas of dominance. He appealed politicians to help resolve the controversy and start work on the project.
In August, Federal Minister for Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs, Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, announced a modern cardiology center to be established in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the project is part of his aspirations to facilitate the people of GB. If constructed, it would be the first cardiology center in the region.
