Contractors have left several development projects incomplete in Diamer district despite receiving multiple funding from the government of Gilgti-Baltistan (GB), reports said Monday.
The district’s people complain that the government of GB has not taken any concrete action against the contractors.They had demanded independent inquiry into the matter multiple time, but in vain.
According to sources, funds were released thrice for the Government College, Chilas, yet work on the college’s construction remains at standstill from a long time. Moreover, the construction of a water supply system in the district remains incomplete, increasing the sufferings of the locals.
Roads and other infrastructural projects are reported to be in poor condition throughout the district and local people have complained that their representatives and government officials don’t care.
The people of Diamer district have demanded that the Chief Secretary of GB, Yunus Dhaga, take immediate action against the contractors who have stalled the projects despite receiving multiple funds. They have demanded that the culprits be punished to set an example for other contractors.
