By Isar Sallahuddin

Passu Cricket League will start from 5th July at Passu cricket ground. Nine teams from Passu will take part in the tournament. Passu Cricket League (PCL), previously named as Passu Premier League, is a mega cricket event organized at village level by Ismaili Boy Scouts Group Passu, with the collaboration of Passu Students Assocation (PSA).

The event was first started in 2008 to give the youth a mean of unity and understanding. As many young students rush from different cities to the village for vacation, the don’t find any platform to get together and engage in healthy activities, leading to the creation of lack of social interaction.  This factor was noted to push the young people, especially young men, in wrong direction and unhealthy activities.

Therefore, to cope up with this issue, Passu scouts decided to bring this cricket event every year in the month of July, so that young men can engage in healthy activities and villagers can get some entertainment for a week or ten days. This year, the theme for this event is to combat drug abuse in the region.
