Chitral: Markhor found dead in wildlife office

Booni, Chitral: A wild goat (Markhor), which is the nationalized animal of Pakistan, is reported killed in the custody of wildlife department in Booni Chitral. According to Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Imtiaz Hussain Lal, the injured Markhor was recovered on Booni road three days ago. He said the injured animal was taken to the wildlife department and treated by a veterinary doctor.

Later, the Markhor was found dead, he added. This is the third Markhor which has been found dead in Chitral within a few days. The DFO said the Markhor died of some illness. But an eyewitness told this correspondent that the Markhor was injured in the eyes. He said the carcass and skin of the animal were preserved and would be carried to Peshawar along with its trophy to be displayed at the museum.
