Authorities claimed on Thursday that they have arrested the alleged mastermind of the Chilas terrorism incident that left dead two army officials and a police officer probing the murder of 10 foreign climbers and their Pakistani guide near Nanga Parbat.
Sources said that Hamidullah, who is allegedly involved in the killing of Colonel Ghulam Mustafa, Captain Ashfaq Aziz and Superintendent Police, Hilal Ahmed, was arrested on the basis of information dug out during questioning of two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants.
It is pertinent to mention here that security forces arrested two TTP militants on Sep. 5 in connection with the incident of murder of the security officers in Chilas and massacre of the foreign tourists at the Nanga Parbat base camp.
Security forces reportedly detained Hamidullah after raiding a residence in Diamer. Hamidullah was said to be a key suspect in the killing of the secutiy officers.
Police and para military forces had launched a targeted operation in Diamer after militants killed foreign tourists on June 23. The operation is being supported by the Pakistan Army.
