Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Younas Dhaga, has said that the government of GB will organize Silk Route Festival 2014 as a mega event.

Mr. Dhaga expressed these views during a meeting with the stakeholders, representatives of NGOs and media persons regarding the Silk Route Festival 2013, which was organized the previous month.

The chief secretary further said that unfortunate events of terrorism and militancy over the past two years had badly tarnished the image of GB, adding that the Silk Route Festival sent a good message about GB to the outside world besides helping to recreate a good image of the region.

Mr. Dhaga further noted that the festival played greater role in uniting the people of GB.

“The festival also delivered a message to the world that Gilgit-Baltistan is a safe place for tourists,” Mr. Dhaga said.
