Cellular services suspended across Gilgit-Baltistan

Mobile-services-suspendedCellular services have been suspended across Gilgit-Baltistan for an indefinite period in the wake of tense law and order situation in Gilgit city.

The move to suspend the cellular services came after two persons were killed by unidentified gunmen in the city two days ago. Meanwhile, rangers have been deployed in Gilgit to maintain law and order.

According to our correspondent, a majority of the city markets have also been shut down. The entrance and exit points of the city have also been sealed by rangers and other law enforcers.

Passengers have been facing problems from the last couple of days as the KKH has been closed for travel between Gilgit and Rawalpindi.

Locals fear that Gilgit is once again being pushed into sectarian clashes.
