CEC must take notice of breach of ban on campaigning by PMLN in GBLA-6, demand political parties

Hunza: Political parties, including PTI, PPP, AWP and APML, have condemned the breach of campaigning rules by PMLN a day ahead of elections is GBLA-6. Ms. Marvi Memon, Chairman of Benazir Income Support Program, accompained PMLN candidate Ghazanfar Ali Khan to Gojal Valley’s villages (Ghulkin, Shishkat and Gulmit) to campaign for the contender despite ban on campaigning 24 hours before the polls slated for June 8.

“The Election Commission should take serious notice of the violation made by PMLN in GBLA 6,” said Mr. Muhammad Ajaib, a senior activist of PPP in Gojal. He added that this is an “act of pre-poll rigging” and demanded serious measures from the CEC.

PTI’s tehsil president for Gojal, Mr. Nawab Khan, also condemned the breach of ban by Marvi Memom, saying it is tentamount to “pre-poll rigging.”

“It is also violation of section 144 that has been enforced in GB,” said Mr. Nawab. “Marvi Memon distributed application forms of Benazir Income Support Program among the people,” he alleged.

Awami Workers’ Party’s activist Comrade Saeed Tajik also condemned the act, saying Ghazanfar Khan and Marvi Memom violated CEC rules of closing election campaign on the night of June 6.

“We demand strick action against the violation of CEC rules by PMLN,” he said.
