The mastermind behind the Chilas attack that left dead 10 foreign tourists and their Pakistani guide at the Nanga Parbat base camp has been arrested from Thak, Chilas, reports said.
Authorities said the terrorist, Qaribullah aka Hasan,is also responsible for the murder of three security officers in Chilas. He is said to be a former commander of the Chilas faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Reports say that M. Nabi aka Qari Husnain, a suspect in the both attacks, has also been held.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Secretary, Younus Dhaga, has reportedly informed the federal government about the arrests.
On June 23, gunmen killed ten foreign tourists along with their Pakistani guide at a base camp of Naga Parbat, Gilgit-Blatistan. Both TTP and the Jundullah sectarian terrorist groups claimed responsibility for the attack. Some days down the line and militants gunned down two Pakistani Army officers – Captain Ashfaq and Colonel Ghulam Mustafa – and SSP Diamer, Hilal Ahmed. The army officers and Mr. Ahmed were investigating the murder of the foreign tourists.
