Agricultural independence: GB to make 54,000 acre barren land cultivable

GILGIT: In a bid to boost the regional agricultural sector and promote self-reliance in agriculture, the GB government has planned to make cultivable 54,000 acre barren land.

“Rs. 13 billion would be spent to convert 54,000 acre barren land into cultivable,” said Chief Minister Hafeez ur Rehman on Monday.

Mr. Rehman said the government has also set up land reforms commission in GB to resolve land disputes. He revealed this while speaking with a delegation.

“The commission will address Chilmish Das land dispute,” he said.

It is pertinent to note here that the GB government has initiated work under International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) project to promote the regional agriculture sector.
