mobile film making for social governance

MYRO trains young men and women in using digital technologies to address social issues.

Mountain TV is a project of Mountain Youth Resource & Social Welfare Organization (MYRO) that works for youth empowerment, democracy, human rights, peace building, environment and women rights in the mountain areas of Pakistan. The initiative of community journalism was taken by MYRO  to bridge the gap between the local communities living the mountain areas of Pakistan and the mainstream media.

We provide a virtual space for young men and women to bring into play alternative ways of communicating events and issues: with greater spirit, style, boldness, professionalism, intelligence and teamwork.

We have already broken the ice with a combination of technology and art, such as the use of digital media to shield human rights and using interactive theatre to create awareness about a variety of issues among our target beneficiaries.

We have a simple working model! We train citizen journalists and human rights advocates in the remote mountain areas; they identify and capture news and issues; we dole them out to the world through Mountain TV and social media platforms.
