“Keeping the sensitivity of the month the police department has made special security plan”, says Deputy Inspector General(DIG) of police Ali Sher.
“More than 1,400 policemen and 600 Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Scouts will be deployed on sensitive locations to ensure law and order during the month and rangers will be facilitating the police,” the DIG said.
He further stated that Gilgit city has been divided into four zones. Each zone is supervised by a senior police officer. 27 close circuit cameras have been placed on the main route of processions and police will patrol the main routes and strictly check the main entrance of the city.
To ensure safe travelling on the Karakorum highway 430 personal of security forces have been deployed on the route in Diamer district and 700 security forces will be on high alert duty in Skardu district during the mohram.
